I attended National University and earned a teaching certificate. I worked in a junior college in San Diego as a tutor in math, English, reading, and social studies. I went on to work in the San Diego Unified School district as a teacher's aide and as a substitute teacher. I then accepted a position at the world famous Scripps Research Institute.
