As a person who is both respectful and fond of the English language, I feel that I have an advantage in opening lines of communication with students. Because my area of expertise is language, I find it easy to express myself in a way that a student would understand. An important aspect of teaching is not only expressing oneself eloquently, however; it is also vital to be a good listener. This is something I pride myself on. If a teacher cannot understand what a student finds to be confusing, then the teacher cannot accurately solve a problem. I have had an extensive career in business. I have had a number of accounting/finance positions in the business world. My most successful position was with a chain of 30 Hallmark stores. I started as the accountant and eventually became the President of the company. I have had other positions as Controller and Accountants of other businesses.
