I'm currently a high school tutor for the Socorro Independent School District. I currently tutor English 1-4 and social studies, economics and government. I'm very proficient in my job and do my best to make sure my students understand the concepts. Although I'm "fresh out of high school" I'm very advanced for my age, and currently a sophomore at the University of Texas at El Paso. I've been tutoring now for one academic year here at SISD.
I'm a very visual and verbal person. I like to explain things by writing/drawing them out, saying them out loud and creating analogies between things to help students better understand a concept. I believe the comparison between a concept and something the student can relate to allows for the student to comprehend what is being taught.

My comments on tutoring Composition : I encourage and allow child to be very creative in their writing & learning

I received my degree in Early Childhood Development & Child Psychology in 1999. I tutored children from homeless shelters for 2 years. As I began helping & teaching my two daughters in every subject, and saw how well they were doing, I realized I could help so many other children. I then began teaching, tutoring & learning from pre-kinder to high school classes/students from that point to present. As for my daughters, one is a pre-med student in college & the other attends a health magnet. They encourage my teaching, telling me that I did a great job teaching & preparing them in their journeys to become successes in their futures. And I am happy to share that with others.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm not going to lie; I hated school when I was younger. Some people might think this a drawback when hiring someone as a tutor, but I think it has made me more sympathetic to students who struggle, who don't enjoy school and who need someone to give them a reason to excel. I also can inspire students who are modivated and open up new worlds to them and make learning fun. I love reading and writing, history and theatre, art and science and everything else in between. The world is open and bright for everyone, especially those who wish to learn.
I've worked numerous jobs, none of which were fulfilling except the ones where I worked with children, particularly students who were troubled or had learning disabilities.
