A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. I tutored privately for three years from 2005-2008 in south Los Angeles County and north Orange County, CA. I can provide recommendations from these clients if you are interested. My youngest students were in first grade with my oldest students attending college.

I believe that the style and approach of teaching varies with each individual student and that it is the tutor’s responsibility to recognize and find the appropriate methods to work with each student. The only teaching style that I believe should be the same across the board for all students is a positive learning environment. I am very patient, energetic, disciplined and compassionate. I believe that every child has the ability to do well and they just need the proper resources and support to get there.
