A Little Bit About Me...

I find it rewarding to teach children and adults the necessary skills that allow them to obtain full English literacy. One of the greatest accomplishments in the course of the educational process is the acquisition of full, quality literacy; it is the foundation. Consequently, I prefer a step-by-step, pragmatic method of teaching English language skills: phonics, words, syllables, consonants, verbs, sentences, punctuation, grammar, etc.
As a long-term adjunct instructor, I have successfully cultivated an effective set of best teaching practices relative to the English language and Communications. I make every conscious attempt to relate to my students as individuals and to meet their educational needs. Additionally, I exert much effort with students to impress upon them the importance of education in their lives and the fact that learning can be totally fun.

When teaching accounting practice or theory there is no substitute for working problems. Repetition of working problems helps all students gain insight of accounting rules and principles. I am a very patient person who is willing to do what ever it takes to see a student succeed in their academic endeavors.
The knowledge gained from completing an accounting degree from an accredited accounting program has possessed me with real world function and theoretical application of multiple accounting systems. I have learned throughout my wide range of teaching experience that the most effective way for children and adults to learn is for the teacher to use the learning style of the student in planning instruction, and if the curriculum is set the teacher should have the ability to adapt the lesson appropriately. I have the skills to do both as a result of my training and experience. The reason I became an educator is because I have always had the desire to help others achieve their goals no matter what they might be! I work well with all ages in academic subjects AND early childhood development (Nanny 911/ birth to 5 year olds - behavioral, social/emotional, and cognitive). My name is Tambra Parker, and I am a Teacher.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very adaptive to students learning style. I usually spend the first ten minutes of our first meeting figuring out what the student is struggling with and how to best meet their needs. I try to teach students more how to think analytical more so then just solving problems because it is more beneficial to the student. I feel that if I can teach the student how to read theorems, understand concepts, then problems just become easy at that point.
I started tutoring part time in 2004 and have continued this throughout college. I worked as a math tutor for tulsa community college part time during the summer. I have earned over 190 hours of college credit, I have two degrees, and I am only 15 hours away from a chemical engineering degree.

I love teaching and working with both adults and children. The key to any student succeeding with the aide of a tutor is my ability to assist the student in finding a passion for the subject and making the learning environment one that is successful and interesting for each student. Having a mom as a teacher growing up I have come to understand that in order to be successful in teaching you need to be compassionate to the needs of your students no one is ever like the other.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in creating students who have learned how to learn. I understand that I am only a temporary fixture in the lives of most students. Consequently, I strive to help them understand how to acquire information and ask the right questions so that they can succeed long after I've left their lives. I believe all children are capable of academic success and I hold high expectations, especially of students who others may have written off.
Through my volunteer work with church organizations I have over five years of experience mentoring others, which has given me an excellent understanding of the need for quality educators. I worked as a teacher in Kansas before moving to Oklahoma, where I currently work at a local Boys and Girls Club. My teaching style is patient and creative. I seem to find unique ways and examples that the learner can understand to help describe how to solve problems. I’m not afraid to admit if I’m not confident of an answer to a question and will do all I can to figure out the solution that makes the best sense to the student. I’m flexible with regards to teaching for different learning styles because not everyone learns the same way. My tutoring can extend from grade school kids to college students.
