Making A Difference

In May 2012, I received my bachelors degree in English with a Literature Emphasis and a minor in Writing. I graduated with a 3.6 g.p.a. (Cum Laude Honors.) Throughout college, I took various education courses that focused on educational philosophy and physiology, elementary and secondary concentrations, and students with disabilities. I was able to obtain 36 education credits and in 2009, I was admitted into the school of education at my university where I was able to engage in student teachings, researchers, and observations. A Little Bit About Me...

I come from a large family of teachers, so teaching and mentoring students is in my blood. Receiving help with homework and research was always a top priority for my parents. The key component that my parents have passed along to me, regarding teaching, is patience. As someone who was diagnosed with A.D.D. as a child, I know the importance of patience in terms to the success of learning, and that not everyone understands concepts the same way. A Little Bit About Me...

Obtaining a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering has exposed me to advanced courses of Math and Science, two subjects which have always fascinated me. A Little Bit About Me...

I have twenty-five years experience teaching at the college level. My areas of expertise are Sociology, Criminology, and Legal Studies but my favorite part of teaching is working one-on-one with students on research and writing projects. In recognition of my expertise in this area, my university awarded me the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring in 2007.
