Teaching the way that my students learn best.

I have teaching experience with both general education and special education on the middle school level as well as the elementary level through my private school experience. I am currently a general education reading teacher who has high expectation of all of my students. My teaching experience includes working with general education and team taught settings with students who have various IEP’s goals and objectives for the past 6 years. As a teacher, I think that it is very important to meet the needs of the whole child as well as their educational needs. I strive to show my students respect, honesty, kindness, and a kind heart at all times. In doing so, I have achieved many success moments with encouraging my students to meet their goals and objectives. I am a high school senior in the AP/Honors program at Warner Robins High School. I have two little sisters who I have tutored since they began school. On average, they have scored higher on tests when I have helped, particularly in the area of social studies. I have also helped multiple students at my school. The average that they score on a test is typically ten points higher than when they study by themselves and, in some cases, twenty points if the student does not study at all. The results are typically better in social studies, the subject which I am most proficient in, but all subjects tend to shoe significant improvement.
I am hands on. I personally learn best from things like powerpoints and handouts. This is also the way I tend to teach others.

Knowing others are growing with my help brings much satisfac

I have gone through a lot of different experiences throughout life, and I'm more than happy to help and share those experiences if you'd allow me. I started playing piano at a very young age (7 years old) and afterwards started to pick up other instruments along the way which resulted in all county for Tuba (3rd chair 2010) and in that same year becoming a drum major. I've learned much about music theory, as well as keeping up with every other course I selected while in school. I have experience in the military and with that comes a level of professionalism that can easily be seen once eyes are set upon me. Before the military I was an intern for many different jobs at MacDill AFB and that simply added to my knowledge including theater, and how to help other unlock their hidden potential for drama! I look forward to helping in each and everyday that I can, I hope to see you soon.

A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past three years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to tutor a wide variety of students on a part-time basis. I enjoy the challenge of transmitting information in a way that is both accessible and edifying. This experience, combined with a world-class education from Mercer University, enables me to engage students on a level not typically found with other tutors.
My teaching style reflects the environment of a college classroom. Lessons are centered around unrestricted discussion of topic and formal lecturing. The most central part of my style , however, is guiding the student to realize the answer for themselves. Not only is this method more conducive to learning, it is an indispensable tool for boosting confidence.

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.
During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked wi ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Tutoring has taught me that perseverance and patience are the keys to tackling tough situations, and I try to pass that along to others. I am very versatile when it comes to teaching various age groups. I try to keep my sessions exciting, but focused and instructional. I teach to each to the unique style of the individual student and when instructing a medium to large group, I adjust to the majority learning style;moreover,"no student is left behind."
It is my belief that I do not truly master subjects until I can teach it to others. Thus, I view tutoring as an essential component of the learning process. With respect to my tenure as a tutor in the community of Tuskegee, Alabama and on-campus,this has certainly been the case. From helping to ease students of their confusion in the laboratory, to leading review sessions in front of spacious lecture halls, my experiences as a tutor h ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As an educator, I recognize the importance of teaching and the impact that it has on the lives of students. My goal as an educator is to enhance student learning and to maximize individual learning potential as much as possible. This can only occur if the learning experience is welcomed and groomed to meet the individual needs of the child. To obtain knowledge is to obtain the recipe for success in life and as an educator; I am one of many individuals who should help facilitate that process.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a passion for educating children. In the process, I have been able to observe different teachers and their methods. So I was able to form my own tutoring style and method that has worked pretty well for me and my students. I have always encouraged my students to learn by letting them have a more hands on approach and also more interactive. I firmly believe, that even with adults and more in children, in order to hold their attention, they must be interested and involved. So I strive to make my lesson plans captivating and interactive. I believe children can learn easier if they enjoy doing it.
