My father was my first math mentor. He graduated from West Point - and tutored his roommate John Saxon. John developed the Saxon method. The next influencer was Investigations - the math program used at West School in New Canaan, CT where I did my student teaching. That program taught me to do "break apart" math - which teaches math independence. I have done more substitute teaching at all grade levels - and often play "Mental Math" with white boards -which the kids love. They work in teams and get the adrenaline rush of beating the clock and the teacher. This methodology - has worked really well for AD&D kids.

As an instructor, I want to understand how members/groups learn and maintain the balance in the classroom. I provide learning through a variety of ways such as powerpoint presentations, lectures to supplement the weekly readings, provide additional resources to support the material. The most important benefit that I can offer my students is to be accessible to them at all times. Assessments would reflect the learning objectives through problem-solving, open discussions, group work, role play and journal writing.
