Earned Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of Memphis in 1991. Taught in preschool from 1992 until 1993 in Concord, CA. Taught my own children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. After graduating from University of Memphis, I moved to California and taught in a Montessori preschool until beginning my own family. To be able to work at home, I managed a small 24 unit apartment complex for 4 years. After my third child, I began homeschooling my own children in grades K-12th grade and have for the last 10 years. I have worked with children throughout college, both in academic and nonacademic settings. I worked on a family literacy program at the Mississippi Childrens Museum, called Planting the Seeds to Read, which entailed teaching children literacy skills and coaching parents in literacy strategies for home. I teach at Canton Young Filmmakers Workshops every summer. I work with students on a hands on, personalized instructional manner. I teach study skills as well as subject knowledge.

My experience started in my high school years helping my brother and sisters with homework while our mom was working. Presently I am employed at a day care center/ school, were everyday is spent engaged with the kids and their educational needs. I passed the ASVAB and served in the Marine Corp from October 2004 to October 2008. I was a motor transport operator. I served two tours in Iraq. I am a leader and believe that I will be a great asset to helping others in their desire to join the military. My extensive training in the Marine Corp gives me knowledge and experience to help others achieve success while learning the necessary skills to become a more knowledgeable person. I have over 18 years helping students academically. In the Jackson Public School District I initiated an after school tutorial program to help student who were falling behind in reading math and language arts. As the Accelerated Reading Assistant in the library I was able to use the program to help students to progressively become fluent readers. From this experience starting in 2002-2005 I began offering offer tutorial services to parents on weekend which many accepted for a small fee.
