I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. I work hard at leading students to figure things out for themselves. But if they get too frustrated, I will spell things out more in detail. I draw a lot of pictures, but have learned that not all students find this helpful. So I try to present mathematics several ways: with numbers, with pictures, with symbols. After earning my doctorate in math in 1966, I began teaching at the University of Massachusetts as an assistant professor of math. I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. My teaching style would consist of trying to get the student to understand what they are studying which is considerably better than just simple short term memorization. I earned a well rounded education from Western Kentucky University with a strong emphasis in math / Engineering. Since College I have pursued the Surveying field. I have recently obtained the status of Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Kentucky.
