I enjoy working with children, and believe that all kids have the ability to achieve anything. As long as their mentors can give them an extra boost to understand certain concepts their ability to accomplish their projects and earn exceptional grades are endless. My teaching style is to guide them through the learning process and to make sure they have a firm grip on their subjects when we complete our tutorial.
I started my college career at Drake University as a Mass Comunications major. I changed schools and recieved a double major in Business and Economics. As a teacher or tutor it is very important to realize that everybody learns differently. Because of this you have to strive to find the way your student learns and utilize creative ways to make sure the student understands what you are teaching to them. In my experience I have used pictures, words, books, varying explanations, and multiple examples to teach.
My teaching experience actually extends back to high school where not only did I tutor fellow students in math and chemistry but I also taught swim lessons as my part time job. More recently I tutored students in the chemistry study center at the University of Washington. As a junior and senior finance major, I routinely tutored fellow classmates in several finance and business courses. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently.
I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. The courses were varied and included a wide array of math application, from supply and demand curves to interest rate calculations. My classmates gave me the nickname "Webster" because I was frequently asked to edit their papers and to tutor them in several different subjects. I love working with teenagers, and watching their faces change when they really GET a concept for the first time!
