English ESOL is one of my top subjects! I have a decade teaching ESL in Prague, Czech Republic. My students were native Czech. and Vietnamese. My students were both in school and in business. Their skill levels were measured with standardized testing and earned promotions at work. Several of my school students went on to universities in England. Several of my business students have come to the States for both pleasure and business and had little problem communicating with and to Americans.

I believe learning should be two way. Students should learn from a teacher and the teacher should be willing to learn from the students. My lessons are personalized to the student needs. My lessons are interactive.

Having received an MA in French and Italian language and literature and recently submitting a PhD which focussed on Basque and Catalan nationalism, I was able to hone my language skills, and put them to use during many hours of fieldwork I conducted in France and Spain. The completion of graduate degrees has also allowed me to develop my writing, analytical and communication skills. Over the past six years, I have taught French and Italian on an individual and group basis from an elementary through to tertiary level. I have also tutored ESL on a voluntary basis.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love helping people achieve their dreams and goals and I have high expectations for all children and adults I am teaching. As an educator I encourage my students to believe in themselves and convince them they have the ability to be successful in whatever they want to achieve. One of my students was struggling with C's and D's for grades and he was getting extra help but he was frustrated. Once or twice a week we would chat about it. I encouraged him to put forth a little more effort and I promised him his studies would get a little easier over time. My teaching style is very creative. Yes, I believe in teaching the basics, but make learning fun. I like to do fun games or art projects or use music to inspire and teach the children. That way they will have fun and learn at the same time.
My experience is not as a liscensed teacher. I have been more of an assistant or tutor. I have worked with k-6th grade students-some of which are/were physically and /or mentally challenged.
