I hold a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree in Science Education. I was certified in the State of Louisiana to teach Chemistry, Biology, General Science, and Computer Literacy. I taught high school Chemistry, Physics, Computer Literacy, and Study Skills. I have taught Biology Lab courses and Computer Information Systems courses at the college level, and have substantial experience teaching algebra to students preparing for the GED exam.
The most important element of teaching is to realize one is teaching a person. In a tutoring situation, it is especially important to discover exactly how to present material to the student. As a teacher, I seek to understand the student and then present the material using terms and examples the student can understand. Finally, I literally believe the only “stupid question” is one the learner doesn’t ask.

As a University of Richmond graduate, I earned a BA in business administration from the Robins School of Business, which is rated by The Princeton Review as one of the nation's top undergraduate business schools. Also, U of R is a liberal arts university, which means I have been educated at a high level in a variety of subjects, such as English, Math, Spanish, Art, and Science. My analytical and grammatical skills have been developed by the many essays, research papers, and presentations I have completed. I was a student athlete, which forced me to learn the value of time management, hard work, and dedication in order to excel both in the classroom and on the football field. Earned degree 1966-Have traveled multiple times in Europe where I have successfully used the French language in French speaking and non-French speaking areas. Have tutored for two years through two different services. I very much enjoy helping others to learn another language, and have fun with it. I am also qualified to tutor basic math and reading.
I prefer a relaxed relaltionship with students regardless of their age. I do not try to force anything, rather comfortably explain things on a level that can be understood by the student. I try to have fun with the subject, and make it interesting on the student's level of understanding/experience. I realize some students may not be comfortable in a remedial situation, and try to encourage participation in a non-threatening manner.
