As a graduate student at Bay Path College in Longmeadow, MA I have mastered the fields of finance, accounting, technical writing, and computer skills. I began tutoring as an undergrad student working for the college's academic support office tutoring math and science courses. After graduating cum laude with a BA in Mathematics, BS in Meteorology, Physics minor, and Secondary Education certification, I went straight into teaching. For the next 8 years I was a jr high and high school math and science teacher. I taught Physics, earth Science, Physical Science, General Science, and math classes ranging from 7th grade basic math up through trigonometry. Last year I returned to school to earn a masters degree in Applied Statistics from Cornell University. I am a retired Connecticut public school educator with over 30 years of experience. I taught both English and mathematics, grades 7 through 12, for the first fourteen years of my career. I was an administrator for the remainder of my career, serving at the high school level, middle schoollevel, elementary level, and central office level. My last four years were as a system-wide language arts and reading curriculum supervisor in which I worked with students, parents, teachers and other administrators.

I was more of an instructor than a teacher. I was a day camp counselor at Solway House parent/child resort in Saugerties N.Y. I instructed kids how to swim, dive, play various sports and gave dancing lessons to the guests. As a high school student I tutored 7th and 8th graders in an after school community center. I was one of a few staff at the University of Connecticut to instruct graduates and staff in the use of the various electronic facilites available to them.
I feel children are very self-aware and are very vulnerable to positive and negative feedback. Therefore, no matter how little progress is made, praise them. If no progerss is made or if an issue needs to re-addressed, praise them..."That was great, but let's try it this way!" I feel that you are positive, smiling, and they believe that you believe in them, 9 out of 10 kids will follow you!
