A Little Bit About Me...

I have a strong desire to use my abilities and interests as a professional educator. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting. I have a strong math, reading and social sciences core subject background. Since January of 2010 I have been serving as a substitute teacher in both Pueblo city and county school districts. This work includes providing one-on-one assistance to students who need additional support. I have also worked with students that have a variety of disabilities, from pre-school through high school. I have worked with children in one capacity or another for over 20 years. I love to help children achieve their educational goals and to succeed in any way possible. I have earned two bachelor degrees;a BA in Psychology and a BA in Child Development. I also have an AA in General Studies with the focus on Early Childhood Education. I have been a director of a preschool for 4 years. I have taught in 2 preschools. I have tutored children, below the average reading level, in grades 1-6. I was the Site Supervisor in an elementary age after-school program.I have an American Sign Language certificate and passing scores on the CBEST (California Basic Edcuational Skills Test).

I retired last year after 33 years of United States Air Force military and civilian service. I have earned a BA in Sociology and an AS in Engineering Design Drafting. Throughout my career, I often found myself providing both individual tutoring and group instruction. One of my most enjoyable positions was as a full-time satellite scheduler instructor where I would train newly hired employees both individually and as a group. Equally important to me during this time was my work as a volunteer helping children with special needs and/or learning disabilities (with Head Start and public schools) and completing nine credit hours towards a MA in Special Education with a 4.0 GPA.
