A Little Bit About Me...

I like to get to the point of certain problems, such as reading the child/student when I see them, ask them some questions about the subjects they need help in and why they need help. I have worked with Infants-School age for over 5 years, and enjoy being there to help someone in need. I believe in giving back, because so many of us are blessed already.
As an early childhood teacher, I have had several opportunities to help children (school age), to do homework. I also was a tutor in high school to a boy for just Algebra, which then turned around to being all of his subjects and helping him keep on track. The hardest thing for me was that he had only lived in the U.S. for four years, and had trouble speaking English. After each session of tutoring, I would grab the Scrabble board, which encouraged him to use more words, learn new words, and have fun while doing so.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a French Canadian native, I went back to school in the USA to teach Spanish and French. I am certified to teach both and I have taught both for 4 years. I also have indepedent study French students. I tutored a high school student to prepare herself for the SAT's. I am a professional at what I do and believe that a second language opens opportunity to the world.
I emphasize on taking few notes but helpful ones. Speaking and listening is my main focus. Students needs to be able to communicate. Using the vocabulary in real world situations is the key, not just in the context of the chapter of the book. My students are able to use Spanish outside of the classroom and this is the biggest reward a teacher can observe.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught all grade levels but at the present time, I am teaching middle school. I have my own hands-on style in the classroom and prefer that method with the students that I tutor. Inevitably I need to teach the content required by the students' classroom teacher and have to fall back on traditional teaching methods in order to have the student become current in what is being learned at school. I am in favor of utilizing the computer as a learning tool as well as the required textbook. The computer however, gives the student instant feedback on the skills being learned and encourages the student to keep working towards their goal.

If you can ingite a desire to learn in students, I believe everything falls into place after that.
