Talent Development Tutoring

I have led several workshops about differentiation and developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood educators and parents over the last couple of years. I have been tutoring for elementary aged students for ten years now. Parents have seen real academic gains through the tutoring approach I take. First teaching job was in a school for severely autistic children. After being there for a year I taught in a residential home for boys. This was challenging but probably one of my favorite jobs as a teacher. Because of the distance from home to work (about 1-1/2 hrs.), I applied at an urban school 20 minutes from my home. My oldest is a national merit scholar finalist, and my youngest son is captain of his high school math team. Math is fun, like a puzzle-once the student sees this fact, they begin having more fun and less fear of the subject.
I am a patient teacher, and I use many different ways of communication. I try to find the style of learning best suited to my pupil. Removing the fear of the subject seems to be the most important part.
