After serving 4 years in the US Air Force I got out and completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry at the University of West Florida. I relate well to high school and college students. Awesome Chemistry Tutor

Algebra I is one of my top subjects!

My teaching philosophy has developed through my experiences as a high school physics teacher, as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physics at Texas Tech University, and through tutoring individual students. In my experience, high level of student participation is important. First, it allows students to at least start thinking towards a problem in their own way, and later start debating over what they have learned in the classroom. I try to encourage the class by carefully organizing my lectures. With a clear organization, students are more likely to believe they understand the framework of the class and therefore will be willing to ask questions about the sections they may not understand. Algebra I is one of my top subjects! I graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a Bachelor's degree in Business and a minor in Math. I have been in the business world for 20 years as a Credit Analyst and use Algebra occasionally to perform my job, so I feel like I relate Algebra to the real world for any person needing help in Algebra.

My teaching style would be tailored to what each individual needs help with. I am a patient person who would teach by solving some example problems, then assigning a few similar problems for my student to solve. If he or she has trouble solving them, I will try to identify what the issue or issues are and teach them what they are doing wrong and why.
I have no formal teaching or tutoring experience other than teaching my kids. I have managed people in the work place and have been told I am a good teacher/trainer. I am considering going back to school to become a teacher, but would like to try tutoring first. I have three kids, two have graduated high school and one is in middle school so I have seen my share of bad teachers who can only teach out of a book and don't know how to relat to their students.
