Never tell a child when you can ask him.

I have 6 years of substitute teaching experience in the Washoe County School District in Nevada, as well as at a charter school. Substitute teaching has allowed me to work with children from preschool to grade 12, in all subjects. I have worked twice as a preschool teacher, once at the E.L. Cord Child Care Center at TMCC in Reno, and again at His Kids Preschool, using A Beka Book curriculum to teach 2-4 year olds. Additionally, through the College of Education in the University of Nevada, Reno, I have completed several practica. A Little Bit About Me...

I've been tutoring since high schools in a wide range of subjects, such as latin, algebra II, and biology. The skills you use to teach yourself the material can be directly applied to someone else, especially when you find something does not click at first. I have a number of mnemonics for helping my tutees retain the material they've spent time learning. In college I don't tutor professionally because of time constraints, but I help other students understand problems they may be having difficulty with. I've also had my own SAT tutor and seen different programs and their styles, and I've chosen the one that I find the most effective.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Reading : I have tutored K-12 grade level students in Math, Language Arts and Science subjects. I enjoy tutoring students and helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially. As a part of my jobs, I developed student’s lesson plans, worked on their Individual Assessment Plans (IAPs) and instruct classes in School. In addition, I have artistic and computer skills that will be an asset when helping students with their project work.
