Working with students and education has been a part of my life for about 11 years. I first began doing so in high school, around 1999 working as a volunteer with the YMCA. Eventually I became a counselor and would work my way up to Camp Director. I am proud to say that I am the first of my family to attend a University. Currently I am a senior at Cuny Lehman College in the Bronx, NY where I study English Literature and minor in Secondary Education. Recently I have just returned from studying at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. The year abroad helped me to better understand my culture and gain a stronger grip on my native language. I am a strong believer that we all have our own way of learning and it is important to be flexible to the needs of each individual. I have worked as a Counselor for Disabled Adults and see that no matter where a person is developmentally, there is a way to help them achieve a higher level. Patience, creativity and providing a non-judgemental environment are key to helping children and even adults to achieve success.
