My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Pre-Algebra is something I did not appreciate until I took higher-level courses, but now that I know why it is important, I enjoy the concepts of algebra and its prerequisite. See my "Math" comments for my experience. I have used the concepts of Pre-Algebra every day for the past four years and more.
From my experience as a math student, I have seen that the best approach to teaching math is to make it highly step-by-step. My teaching style is highly logical, making sure the student understands the process for themselves. I can teach using words or pictures and adjust the pace according to the ability of the student.
My experience as a tutor began with my younger sister. When she was a sophomore, then later a junior, I taught her Algebra 2 and, later, Functions Statistics and Trigonometry. She passed both classes, remaining on the honor roll.
My next tutoring experience was in tutoring my fifth-grade cousin. At the end of two months, he won the math award at his school.
Since then, I have tutored students in College Algebra, High School Algebra, Basic Math, and Junior High Algebra. I have enjoyed this experience immensely and have seen positive results.
