I am a firm believer that all students can achieve academic success but each in their own way. Having taught students with a range of learning difficulties, I am very much aware that each student has thier own learning style and therefore their own way of achieving. I am a very patient, easy going tutor who uses the students interests to relate to the subjects being tutored and therefore, promoting academic success.
Over the past twelve years I have taught a range of subjects including basic Math and English to students with a range of learning difficulties, including dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism. First, in order for the students to best understand the material, I break it down to their level. For subjects like math, it is simple to develop a step by step method for the students to write down and follow. Once the students have mastered the steps they are motivated to continue with the material because it seems straightforward. It is also important to have the students connect to the material; if they understand how the information is used in every day life then they will become more excited and motivated to learn. Once the students have a firm understanding of the information, they are assigned independent problems. These problems will help the students begin to think on their own and in turn own the material.

As a recent graduate of a private liberal arts institution with a degree in Medieval and Early Modern Studies and a concentration in pre-medical courses, I have a diverse and extensive understanding in several areas of study, both in the humanities and the sciences.
