My comments on tutoring Biology : I took both Honors Biology in ninth grade and AP Biology in twelfth grade. I received an A in both courses for my hard work and was in the top of my class both years. I mastered the basics from Honors in AP biology. One emphasis my teacher had was to be able to explain the concepts both in writing and verbally so I have become a very effective tutor in this subject area.

I have helped my classmates and have had one official student as of this summer. However, I have learned how to explain concepts so that students dont just memorize, they will gain a thought process and applicable knowledge that will enable them to solve even the most complex problems. Having this mentality of preparation and success will being them to reach their goals.
Teaching new concepts, practice applying the new material, review, and more practice of the material to solidify the concepts.

I have been fortunate to teach biology to undergraduates for nearly forty years. I am passionate about making sure my students not only excel in the courses they take, but are prepared for a world in which the biosciences (especially the molecular biology of the genome & DNA!)will form the basis of medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, and major technological breakthroughs in environmental science. My educational career was full of challenges that have given me a broad basis of knowledge for tutoring. In high school, I earned the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.
