As a 2010 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I was President of our local Kentucky Education Association and Chair of our Student Government Association. I graduated summa cum laude from Berea College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. I haven taken many courses in biology and chemistry. I am also very proficient in algebra and trigonometry, and I have taken one course in calculus. As a high school student I worked in an after school program tutoring children in grades 3 to 8 in reading and math. I then taught in the same K-12 school for 28 years. I taught the 4th grade for 26 years where I taught English, Reading, Writing, and Social Studies. I enjoy helping others understand statistical concepts as well as how they can be applied. I think it is important to have a great deal of patience when teaching and to always make it fun when possible. Also, I find it useful to remember that I was once learning statistics and remember the great skill of my professors and how integrative and exciting they made the process. I have taken on part of their approaches and try to use interesting examples in order to make learning statistics something to be excited for.
