I enjoy working with students and showing them the joy of learning. I believe that children learn most in small groups and one on one environments. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe everyone should be provided an opportunity to learn. I have used a lot of manipulatives to teach math techniques and seen a positive result of this. I also believe in using research based strategies to lead each child to their potential.
I recieved my bachelor degree which helped my develop strategies to guide children with their reading comprehension as well as math skills. I have been a classroom teacher for three years. I believe in teaching by example. I know especially in chemistry, examples help see the proper technique and variables needed to solve the problem. I feel that if a student is memorizing an equation but does not understand the process of finding and filling in variables, this will not help them get to the correct answer. A student need to dissect the equation in order to understand what exactly a problem is looking for. It took me many year to understand this process, but once I did I found that I could solve almost any problem that was presented to me in the field of chemistry. I hope to pass this knowledge on to my students.

As a graduate from Tennessee Tech University, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Elementary Education. My field experience during college (practicum assignments and student teaching) allowed me to work with a broad range of children – from kindergarten to fifth grade. During my time as a student teacher in a small private school setting, I also worked one-on-one with students who needed additional assistance in math.
