My comments on tutoring Language Arts : I have spent many years as a Middle School language arts teacher and have much experience tutoring elementary and middle school students in all language arts areas.

I have worked in art and graphic design professionally for the past 6 years, however I have been freelancing and creating art for myself since 1998. I previously worked for the Hayward Area Historical Society, which included assisting in design for exhibits as well as some teaching to visiting school groups. I have also been asked to teach small groups of children about art, or help with general homework on numerous occasions.

My comments on tutoring Language Arts : All literary subjects are the love of my life. I have made my living for the past 15 years working with literature and writing.

I assess the student's level of mastery by listening to parents, communicating with the student (in whatever appropriate way needed) and then doing some basic testing. Once the student is assessed, I design a learning environment and activities that coincide with the student's specific strengths, while adding some elements of challenge. I tend to work in a very focused way for 10-15 minutes, and then add in tactile activities (like Bannana Grams for example) for 10 minutes or so, in order to maintain the student's attention. Children and youth who are struggling to read and write get patient assistance to learn the words correctly. Academic Learning to Standards and Beyond!

Experienced Educator Available To Tutor

I taught high school English for three years. My students ranged from far below basic to advanced. My comments on tutoring Language Arts : I have taught this subject at both primary and secondary levels in my school district.
