I have always enjoyed English and Writing. I have kept a journal since I was in the 1st grade. I scored very high in these areas on my ACT's, as well as in all of my high school and college classes. I am enthusiastic, kind, positive and approachable. I passed my state boards on the first try because I feel I have excellent study skills. I enjoy working with people and find joy in helping others. My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : Above average grading.

I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects like Economics. I have tutored for the Sickle Cell Organization in 2001, helping students catch up numerous missed assignments. I tutor when the opportunity presents itself. Last Summer-Fall I assisted a nursing student in Speech and helped with two research papers. More recently (Oct.2009-Jan.2010), I worked tutoring students grade 2-10. My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : In addition to having been a state-certified teacher for 18 years, I have 6 years experience tutoring my way through college.

My teaching style...? I do not have only one; part of the point of tutoring is the ability to truly tailor styles/strategies to individuals or small groups. I must say that I am the funniest person I know, and I crack myself up all the time. Humor is always one of my favorite/best strategies.
I am a certified teacher of French and English; I have taught both subjects at the middle and high school levels for 18 years.
