For the past 2.5 years, I have been in middle and high schools working with English teachers and students. Though I often worked as a substitute, I was able to teach students lessons and work left by teachers who knew of my experience and knowledge of Language Arts. I received a MA in English Education from University of Alabama in Huntsville as well as a BA in English and Theatre from Union University. A Little Bit About Me...

I think educators must take into account the different ways in which students learn. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters. If an instructor can build a bridge between new material and material the student has already mastered, the student's retention can significantly improve. By getting to know the interests and knowledge of each, I hope to discover bridges that will make learning an exciting and enjoyable process.
I graduated from Wake Forest in 2008, double-majoring in Mathematics and Physics. I have taught for over twenty years from 4th grade to 9th grade; for the last nineteen years, I have taught English at the middle school level. I began my career teaching 4th grade. I have also taught 5th grade and 6th grade English and Math. I am highly qualified in Reading K-12 and Middle School Mathematics. For thirteen years, I taught 7th grade. The state course of study requires students to write in all four modes of writing and all seventh graders are tested at the end of the academic year for their writing proficiency.
