I have over 12 years of experience in the elementary education field. While my passion is reading instruction, I am certified and have taught in all elementary subjects: math, science and social studies.I have spent the last 8 years working as a reading specialist at a K-5 elementary school and the past three summers as a reading tutor with Lynchburg College's Summer Reading Clinic. A Little Bit About Me...

The most important aspect of education that I have learned is that it is not about teachers making a difference; it is about helping students make a difference. Knowing this, I strive to help all students succeed using the most efficient learning strategies possible. Technology is a growing tool in the classroom and I intend to use it as much as possible to engage students and help them learn. Also, it is important to incorporate many learning strategies into planning in order to reach all students. I graduated from Liberty University in May 2009 with a BS in Accounting. I am currently and have been a substitute teacher in Bedford County for the 2009-2010 school year. My experiences have spanned all ages and types of children's learning abilities. From a church setting, to a public school to a driver training car. As a substitute teacher, I worked on developing a good rapport with the students. And was always willing to assist them in working towards understanding the concepts before them. I am very patient and understanding with the children, because a stressful environment is not conducive to learning.
