A Little Bit About Me...

I have been one of the tutors on the Adult Learning Center staff at the Johnson County Public Library in Franklin, Indiana since 1998, and my tutoring work has mostly been concentrated in teaching English for the past eleven years. I also spent approximately three years (2002-2005) tutoring boys at the Indiana Juvenile Correctional Facility (Indiana Boy’s School), covering mostly English, math and GED preparation. My education focused heavily on English and math, having taken the most advanced courses in each discipline. My English grades were almost always straight A’s, and I excelled in my English composition classes, which became for me some of the most enjoyable time spent during my educational life.

After graduating in 1996, I opened my own tutoring service in Dickson, TN. I tutored individuals from public schools and home school in Math, Reading, and several other subjects needed until 2001. At this time I left Dickson and moved to Clarksville, TN and tutored with A+ Math tutoring intil 2006.
Seeing the look and smile on the face of a student that finally grasps a concept, or realizes they have just read on their own for the first time, OH What a Feeling!!! I take each child as their own individual knowing they have their own needs in learning a subject. I teach in several different ways as to ensure the child grasps what they need. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe students will always be frustrated till they learn the material and if you make it interesting and related to them personally it tends to elivate the frustration and to feel more comfortable with the material. I am presently looking at obtaining my teaching certificate to teach elementary school at one point and time. My father's family is spanish so I speak a some. I am not fully fluent.
I have always had an interest in teaching. I graduated from college with my AA while working with the University of Michigan Department of Hospital Finance Training. From there I took some time off to finish my degrees. While going for my BA I worked with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was elected President of the Auxiliary and of the District. A Little Bit About Me...

I pride myself on helping students have fun while learning. I believe that if a student is not enjoying themselves they will not learn. As a teacher I use a hands-on approach to give the students a realistic approach to learning. All students can learn and as a teacher I feel it is my job to bring the best out of any child. I love children and I long to make a difference in each ones lives.
I have worked for an after school program for the past five years. In this position I was able to tutor students and help them with their homework. The experience I have is with students in grades kindergarten through 4th grade. I did my student teaching in a preschool and a 2nd grade classroom. I recieved my bachelor degree which helped my develop strategies to guide children with their reading comprehension as well as math skills. I have been a classroom teacher for three years. I have experience with children ages four though fourth grade. I have taught all subjects and show enthusiam though my teaching each day.
