A Little Bit About Me...

I really like the Sanskrit word, “Namaste,” which I consciously use as a point of guidance in encountering people. One interpretation or meaning of this word is: The Light in me sees the Light in you. I want to honor others so that I can be of better service to them. If I am asked to tutor anyone, young or old, I hope that this can be the foundation of our meeting so that the learning process is a joyous one. I have the tools to help assist in this learning, both academically and intuitively. I am also willing to learn and glean what is valuable and helpful for my own experience. As a 2010 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I was President of our local Kentucky Education Association and Chair of our Student Government Association. I have earned two bachelor degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, which has enabled me to have a wide variety of experiences. Before earning my Elementary Education certificate, I work with elementary age students assessing their literacy levels using assessments and monitored their progress over 2 years. I am familiar with a wide range of techniques to teach and enhance reading and comprehension skills for elementary aged students.
