A teacher never stops teaching, and never ceases learning.

I have been a special education teacher for 26 years with the Davidson County Schools. I have taught all grade levels from kindergarten through high school. I am currently a teacher at South Davidson High School in Denton, NC. I have worked in self-contained and resource classrooms; however, most of my experience has been in the inclusion classrooms with a co-teaching setting. I have taught language arts and English for all of my 26 years in the education field. I currently serve high school students, both special needs students and non-special needs students, in English grades 9-12. English is my passion, especially literature, and I enjoy bringing it into the lives of students. I also assist in math and foreigh language (Spanish). A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer a hands-on approach when possible. I lik to help the children relate to what they are learning in order to help them remember it.
I was a straight A student throughout school. I am currently a high school senior, so the information is still fresh in my mind. I have spent a few semesters as a tutor and volunteer assistant in a local elementary school. I enjoy working with children and being able to help them succeed in school, because without school, the future is bleak!

I believe in teaching students at their ability level and building them up to be able to comprehend and complete grade level work. I am able to express material in a variety of teaching styles, finding the one that works best for my student(s).
I have been working with children academically since 2004 in a variety of settings: one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and in the classroom. My area of strength is with students who are low learners or have learning disabilities. Who Wants To Be A Francophone Too?

I began my French career roughly ten years ago. I knew that French would be at the very center of my existence. Therefore, I decided to dedicate my studies to the language. I even wound up living in France for over a year. I lived in Paris for six months and Montpellier for the rest of the year. It was one of the best experiences of my life; it truly taught me what it means to speak and to understand French, which is why I have made it my goal to aide others in understanding the oftentimes difficult language.

I have a passion to make a difference in the world, and a drive to help others succeed. My life's work has been education. I have a BA in English, an MEd in English Education, and an EdD in Higher Education Leadership. I have taught college English for many years, and I have taught and coached corporate leaders in leadership for many years as well. Over the years I have become a diligent student of the college essay, journalism and non-fiction writing. As a literature major, I was trained how to analyze stories and ideas through discussion and then how to put ideas into written form. As a creative writing minor I was trained how to edit sentences taking out any unnecessary phrases and words. In addition, as a senior, I did an internship at the UNCW writing center where I helped college students with editing their papers. My passion for clear thinking and concise writing has only grown since college.
