I graduated from Plymouth State University in 2008 with my B.S. in Health Education. My option was Wellness Management which has a business component but in obtaining the degree I was required to do some teaching as well. (Not formally, more presentations to my peers and community education. I do not have a teacher certification.) I believe all students have the ability to succeed. In my experience, the most important thing to remember is that all students learn differently, and sometimes what seems like an impossible task just needs to be presented differently for better understanding. I believe in teaching to the student’s style of learning. If convention works use it. Picking up on a student’s interest and intergrading the educational experience is essential. In other words if a student is interested in horses, the classroom should be moved to the barn. If math is the subject in question then measuring food would be an excellent way to learn fractions.
