A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently in school to become a middle school language arts/social studies teacher. I am about to enter my junior year of college. I have volunteered in middle school classrooms. I have been doing one-on-one care with individuals with mental/physical disabilities for the past year and a half working for the Arc of NC. I have volunteered as a tutor at the Pullen Hope Center in Raleigh, tutoring adults trying to get their GED's.

Through the experience of pursuing my degree at Boston University, I was exposed to many different styles of learning and teaching due to my interdisciplinary concentration in Latin American Studies. I like working with children of all ages. I believe that children of all ages and cultural backgrounds can learn if given a proper chance. I even managed to teach children in South Korea, when I didn't speak Korean at all and my students had limited English skills. I taught them through games and use of our workbooks and student books. I believe in making learning a fun experience with lots of games and an easy going manner. If the kid is bored or unhappy, it is going to make it much harder for the child to learn.
