A Little Bit About Me...

I am a graduate of Bryan College with a degree in Music Education, having taken many education classes and completed a semester of student teaching at the elementary and high school level in Rhea County schools. My prior experience in teaching comes from over 5 years of teaching piano lessons to beginning through advanced students from age 4-adult. While at Bryan, I was a tutor for music theory students as well as assisted and edited English and literature papers and essays.

Both my BA and my MA are in English, and I have extensive experience working in my field. After college, I taught high school English for 6 years. Currently, I work as an adjunct instructor at Pellissippi State Community College and ITT-Tech. I believe learning is about confidence. I have seen numerous students doing poorly in courses because they were convinced that they were not capable of learning the subject matter. Small successes help to build confidence in order to move on to the subsequent challenges. I believe in starting with the basics, and making sure that the students truly grasps the subject matter before moving to more difficult concepts. I have always felt compelled to help others achieve their dreams. I graduated with a bachelor's in psychology and began working at a residential alcohol and drug treatment facility for adolescents.
