A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed interacting with children of all ages. I currently serve as a paraprofessional (teacher's aide) at an inner - city elementary school. During my three years in this position, it has become extremely apparent that all children....no matter their abilities....are capable of reaching their full potential. It is simply a matter of adapting my teaching style to their learning strengths. I am a patient, easy going individual who tries to improve upon the struggles that I encountered on my own academic journey so the students that I am working with walk away with confidence in school and really, all facets of life.

As a graduate student at Kansas State University I have learned the value of education. My education in Political Science working towards my BS has given a high degree of competence in math, history, and social sciences. I enjoy teaching students how they learn. It is very important that students know their learning style. My goal is to help them learn how they best retain information. I believe that if a student is able to utilize all the senses that allow them to remember the information that they have received, it will build their confidence in the classroom and as they pursue higher education.
As a student at Kansas State University, I have learned the importance of the pursuit of higher education. I have earned a BS in Psychology, an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy, and will pursue a PhD in Family Life Education and Consultation starting during the 2009-2010 school year. I have written a lot of essays and read numerous research papers. For over a year and a half, I have tutored students in English, psychology, mathematics and sciences.
