Throughout high school and college, I have tutored various ages in a wide array of subjects. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development. During college, I volunteered as an after school mentor/tutor for children ages 6-10. I provided them with help on their homework and created different educational activities for the children to do. I find an interactive, Socratic teaching style in which I encourage the student to discover the answers on their own to understand why something works the way it does is a very effective approach for me rather than just lecturing, particularly for younger learners. I find it equally important for students to understand the why of what they are learning as well as the how and the what.
