My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : K-5

I believe that most elementary students benefit from hands on learning and visuals to make connections with learning. These may be implemented through technology or conventional methods. I also recognize that children have different learning styles, and getting to know your child and their learning style is an integral part of developing an individual learning program for them.
I have eleven years experience as an elementary special education teacher with Fulton County Schools, at the same school in Alpharetta. I have extensive experience with elementary children with a variety of disabilities, including ADD/ADHD, Autism, and Specific Learning Disabilities.I am familiar with Fulton County's curriculum and content. My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : In both the Special Education Classroom and the General Education Classroom, I have worked with students with ADD/ADHD. I have discovered many strategies that bring students back to "on task" behavior.

I am a "hands-on" approach teacher. Often educators think students are grasping the concept when they are really just hearing, not listening.
I taught from the year 2000-2013 in Gwinnett County Public Schools. 2013-2014 tried Georgia Pre-K; which I enjoyed but was unable to live on the salary. I moved to a charter school and discovered that was not the place for me. I am now in Fulton County and love it. I have had the opportunity to meet amazing staff and students, making my job a pleasure to come to. In the 2015-2016 school year I will be teaching Interrelated Special Education in 4th and 5th grade.

More About This Tutor...

To make my teaching more effective, I usually psyche my student to see how the mood to learn is. Should the mood be down at first, I would just come up with something fun, educative, something that can help to boost someone's IQ score. I have also used the NCLB Method, No Child Left Behind Method. In it, we use examples for every question, and evaluate the students every week to enhance greater learning.
I have always been a tutor of almost every class I took in high school, college, and even graduate school. I was always acting as a teacher figure to my friends, and my peers. I usually tutor Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. After I earned my BS in Chemistry, I totored K-12, and taught ESL to foreign students at South Florida Community College. More info will follow later.

Everyone is able to Learn!

I have worked in the field of Education for the last 17 years; I made a career change to the field of education after working with a special needs employee in my previous career/job. The majority of this time has been spent working in various positions in the field of Special Education. In my years of experience, I have taught Kindergarten thru 12th grade, as well as at the DPS Transition Center (age 26). I am certified in both Michigan and Georgia. Presently, I live and work in Georgia during the school year, but I spend my summers in the metro Detroit area.
I have an open, fun and 'hands-on' technology infused teaching style where I maintain control of the environment and behaviors.
