My last number of years have mainly working with the IB curriculum but I have also worked with the British and American curriculums. My teaching experiences in the states have ranged from Montessori Pre-school through adult education. I have also taught Fine Arts and Music in several of the local school districts including W. I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially like working with High School students.Initially, they can be quite a challenge to work with, but once they are engaged they are fully immersed in the topic! I like to be creative and interactive! I was a difficult High School student so I can relate to many that get bored with some topics. I really like to use transactional teaching methods. I introduce a subject and have discussions about the material rather than strictly lecturing.I like to learn what the student can teach me after assigned a reading. Have them go in the front of the room and explain a portion of the reading. It also helps them develop confidence in their public speaking.

I love to see students grasp a new concept and revisit their work with greater pride and confidence as a result. Realizing we all learn in differing rates and manners, I find great satisfaction in teaching in several ways at the same time (e.g., varying visual and auditory cues, telling stories and providing mnemonic devices). Having worked with issues such as ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia, I recognize and address learning challenges with patience, courtesy, respect -- and optimism.
