A Little Bit About Me...

My bachelor's degree from University of Missouri-Columbia is in Political Science. I also minored in Art History. I have done extensive research in each of these areas and feel competent to teach or tutor either. In 2005 I joined the U.S. Peace Corps as a TEFL teacher. I taught English to Mongolian students from elementary school to adults in both classroom and individual settings for two years. Other areas I have in-depth knowledge in are English Literature, Poetry, Philosophy and Psychology. I am currently refreshing and adding to the French I studied at the university and feel that I could competently teach it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and strive every day to become a better teacher, as my career goal is to teach at the university level. I find teaching exciting and difficult. In my discussion sections, I adopt an attitude not of authority over students but of collaboration with students; I try to create and facilitate an environment of collective engagement with a given text or topic. I miss being able to work with students one-on-one, particularly on academic writing, though I do hold weekly office hours and frequently conference with students who are motivated to seek out extra help.
