A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding. I believe that all children can learn and it is the teacher's role to find the learning style of his or her students and to plan lessons and activities to meet their needs. Children want to be successful in school and with my patience and dedication I strive to help each student find success.
I earned my degrees in education from Ball State University. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement, M.A.E. degree, and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education with minors in the following: Learning Disabilities, Mildly Mentally Handicapped, Seriously Emotionally Handicapped. I have taught at the elementary level in both general education classes and special education classes and at the high school level in special education classes.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate student, I had the opportunity to work as a tutor in the Writing Center of Andrews University. I assisted both undergraduate and graduate students and community members with various essays and papers, concentrating on grammatical correctness and content development. I also worked as the Ceramics Director at Camp Au Sable Youth Camp in Grayling, MI, teaching kids, teenagers and adult campers ceramics and managing the ceramics department. I love working with kids and work as a counselor for 6th through 8th grade students at my local church. Currently I am working towards my masters, which has refined my attention to detail and given me a variety of experiences with different personalities.

I worked as a teacher's assistant for several years in public schools in Illinois, assisting in K-5 classrooms. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for 2 years, teaching beginning reading and elementary reading. As I gained experience, I began tutoring students in the school district where I worked. After several years, I became a fifth grade teacher in a private school where I taught for 5 years. I have had a variety of teaching experiences since graduating from a small teacher’s college with strict requirements. I have taught geography, physical education, piano, keyboarding, and coached high school sports. Hard work and dedication led to success in my coaching career with a runner-up state title in girls’ basketball. I mention this because it shows I have a good rapport with students as I am able to motivate and set goals successfully. I also have taught all subjects in a one-room suburban school, grades 1-8.
