I helped two 6th grade classes learn pre-algebra. Many times I would have to come up with a different way of explaining what the teacher said, so the students could understand what they needed to do. -Over 2.5 years in Before and After school Program where we helped students with school work and put on plays during the summer. -About a year as a Teachers aid working almost exclusively with Students in Math. -I have worked with children ranging from 3 years old to twelve years old. -I spent 9 years working with students in many different areas. Some children just need a new way of looking at something to understand it. Children might also need just little more time to understand something that schools just don't have the time to give. Although I have not taken Pre-Algebra since middle school, the concepts are still known and I am experienced with them. My teaching style is flexible because every student learns differently. What I usually start out with is showing examples and having the student ask questions along the way. Then, I allow the student to try some problems as we work through them together. Although I do not have much experience with regards to tutoring, I often help my fellow peers with their homework and tutor them on the things that they struggle on. I am a strong student, currently #1 in my class, with straight A's with enrollment in Advanced Placement classes.
