For thirty-seven years I have been involved in education. Thirty-three of those years has been as a principal/teacher in private multi-grade classrooms. I have been able to successfully teach differing grade levels and subjects because of a strong liberal arts background afforded me in obtaining my BA and M.Ed. This background has enabled me to coach students who have won national and local speech and essay contests; helped me design courses of study for students who were struggling academically, and challenge all my students to succeed. I have been a private instructor of guitar and music theory for over 5 years. I have taught as a native speaker of English in Korea over a year. As a graduate student in Evolutionary Biology at Texas A&M University, I worked as a teaching assistant in undergraduate ecology and zoology labs. I found this experience to be very rewarding and went on to pursue a MA in Instruction. Since completing both graduate degrees in 2008, I have been teaching undergraduate biology at Winona State University. I enjoy a variety of teaching settings. I am an Elementary Education graduate from the University of Minnesota. I have experience teaching students with emotional behavioral disorders, students who were at high risk for failure and students in inner city schools.
