A Little Bit About Me...

I do not have a specific teaching style. Everyone is different, so one particular type of teaching style may not be as effective as another. In order to be effective, I think it is important to recognize the students strengths and weaknesses before embarking on a certain learning path.
I have a Bachelor's degree in History and an Associate's in Process Technology. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. I possess excellent math skills and took statistics in college. I enjoy helping others and feel I am a good fit for this position.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love educating and much rather provide a fun and hands-on approach when teaching my students. I do not believe in the word can’t. That word takes me to a level where I am determined to help the students understand that all things are possible. I believe in hard work, persistency, and participation. I understand that each student learns on a different level and I am prepared to make a curriculum based on each student’s needs. As a tutor, I understand my responsibility primarily as that of helping children reach their potential. I try to help my students understand concepts they are struggling with in primarily three ways. First, I find what their strengths are and see if I can extend understanding of these concepts to the one's they are struggling with. Secondly, I use many examples of a concept to break complex math down into simpler, concise ideas and problem-solving techniques. Third, I try a number of different conceptual approaches to determine which is the most useful for a particular student.
As a student at the University of Chicago, I have tutored at the local Ray Elementary school through the Neighborhood Schools program.
