In helping with mathematics, I interact with the student. I try to help the student find the answers. I give hints towards the direction needed to go to solve the problem.
If helping with reading, I have the student read to me. If the student is uncomfortable, I read a paragraph and then have the student read the next paragraph. I help the student pronounce words.
Most of all, I encourage, by saying, "Great Job."-"Your doing great." I really like math and sharing it with others. While working at Breakthrough as an Educator Coordinator for 2 years, I performed the following: Worked with 75+ clients aged 16 and older in the Education program for adult students with a mental illness,tutored high school math, algebra and geometry, and tutored grammar to a client learning ESL.
In June 2008, successfully completed 9 hours of tutor training taught through Goodwill Adult Literacy program.
