I have over fifteen years of combined experience teaching high school English, ESL, TOEFL and GED exam preparation as well as extensive experience tutoring and giving individual and group English lessons. I currently teach literature at a private secondary and high school and I coordinate and teach classes in a specialized ESL program that I founded. My previous experience includes teaching high school English for over ten years and working as a faculty member in the Adult Basic Education department at a state university. For the first three years out of the university, I was a school librarian, and was board certified K-12 by the Washington State Board of Education as a result of this experience. From 2006-2008, I have been tutoring writing at Northern New Mexico College, from 4th grade remedial level through college papers in all subjects. I am presently working in an Upward Bound program for 9th graders, to help increase their study skills. I believe that students need to be challenged. When they are highly challenged, they really produce. In my tutoring experience, my students' test scores rose two grade levels in ten weeks because they were challenged. Previously, these students were thought to not be able to speak, read, or write English, and were pre-testing at very low grade levels.

Although it took me 15 years to obtain my B.S. in Business Management, I do not view that as a disadvantage.
