Before I began my professional teaching career, I worked for the Read Across America program helping young learners gain an appreciation for reading. I mentored elementary students who were labeled at risk due to low performance in reading. In 2001, I began teaching pre-k in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 2005, I relocated to Houston and began teaching kindergarten in Ft. Bend ISD. I taught 4th grade Math and Science for 2 years. Currently, I work as a 2nd grade ESL inclusion teacher. Having taught for more than five years as a certified teacher, I feel that I have what it takes to be an educator. Understanding the psyche of the student is of prime significance to me, which helps me in directing the teaching strategies and techniques. In order to let the student realize the significance of learning, I try to design a curriculum that is application based.
