A Little Bit About Me...

In groups, I like to have many examples and participation from the audience. As a manager and mentor, I also prefer to teach a concept and return to it when the student has an opportunity to use it in their work. It is important to be able to adjust your teaching style to the needs of the student, and I love the challenge of being able to do this.
I have always loved to learn new things, and as a teenager wanted to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Dietetics with a chemistry minor, as well as an M.B.A. My role as a dietitian requires the ability to teach all ages groups, with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. After completion of my MBA, I moved into a senior leadership role. For 2 years I have worked with H & R Block and have a specialty in tax. My tutoring experience was through Beta Alpha Psi and I did a semester of tutoring undergraduate accounting students.
I love to help people understand the complexities of accounting and the tax code. As a tax preparer I made it my duty to help each client understand their tax situation and made sure they could take all allowable deductions and credits. My teaching style is to lead by example but then provide the student with the oppurtunity to work through the problem on their own. I think that the greatest skill for one to learn is to be able to seek information that can be synthesized into the answer that is needed.
