Being a current student myself, I can appreciate the hardships and struggles of education. I feel that you must always level with your students, no matter what the age. The students are the ones who must lead the class. However, we as educators have a duty to guide and to nourish this idea. We must be leaders who encourage a positive and productive learning environment, while also maintaining an enjoyable experience. I believe in a split between communicative and explicit teaching. Students are given input through examples and other meaningful activities. They then are encouraged to attempt their own output through group work, homework, or discussion. A Little Bit About Me...

I really enjoy working with students, especially at the college level, who have not experienced a great deal of success in a particular subject and aspire to do better. I believe that the key to any kind of scientific or mathematical learning is repetition. It is first important to get to the heart of the concept, and see what is holding someone back from understanding something. After that, it is all about repetition, once a student has seen many examples I have found that it will click all of a sudden.
I graduated from Ohio State in June 2011 with a BS in molecular genetics. I graduated with honors and with a GPA of 3.657. I have taken the MCAT with a score of 33 (10-BS, 12-PS, 11-V). My methods are rather traditional. I beleive that there is no way around hard work. I will explain the problems in many different ways in order for the student to grasp a particular concept. I also am a irm believer that the more problems a student does, the better they become in doing the material.
Taught AP, Honors and Regent level Biology and Honors Physics at Preston High School in NY Most of my students recieved Mastery or above on state exams at the end of the year.Most of my students scored above 620 on the SAT biology subject exam. Tutored throughout my college years the subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology.
