A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in starting with the basics in all things. Reading starts with Phonics, and writing starts with Spelling and Vocabulary, as well as old-fashioned handwriting skills. An absolute staple of learning, in my opinion, is frequent reading for pleasure – whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, novels or comic books. I am patient and love to teach, even reluctant learners. I remember what it was like to not want to sit around and do schoolwork, so I don't expect children to be eager to do it. Since high school I have been aware that I wanted to teach. I am currently pursueing a Masters of Education, and finishing one of my specializations, (French). I have taught for several businesses. I also taught for the Worthington Public School system as a volunteer and teaching asssistant.
I try to devote the day to getting kids interested in learning while covering the topics necessary. It was a very rewarding experience to be able to teach and also help people in subject areas of which you have great expertise and interest. In teaching, one must realize that students learn at different rates of speed. Consequently, you need to find a pace at which the student feels comfortable.
